Reflections by Jasey’s uncle, Jeb

The Man, the Mountain, and the Mission

A little boy and mint tea,
He wasn’t more than maybe three
When he would come, with his older brother,
Across the yard and a visit with me –
To a log-cabin with a woodstove
And a hot cup of children’s philosophy.

A strong will, a clear mind and a good book
Is the man, the mountain, and the mission he took –
He has grown from this creative look,
To find beautiful Manon
His balance, and a special nook.

It’s more the manner of the man, to be so bold,
To see the highest goal, the glory and the gold.
We will have to wait and see it all unfold,
It’s not so important to him, I am told.

When mind with body and spirit three,
Can find the line on the mountain free,
That is true and honest victory –
Time will tell the tale,
Is the only way I can see.

No more to say, that’s it, that’s all –
Well, maybe one more thing
In case you fall!
That in this world so very small,
You can stand, be proud and tall.

From all of us who watch away,
To you my boy we want to say:
Good luck and magic numbers on race day –
We love you, Jasey-Jay!
