That which makes me see Jasey as having grown to maturity is the view he expresses to describe his satisfaction in his career. He is complete and happy when he gets that personal exhilaration
from a run down a course, where his body and mind agree he has put out the very best effort possible for him on that course on that day. Podiums are nice, gold is great but personal satisfaction
with having done his very best is Jaseys ultimate goal and reward.
Jasey began an upward climb of physical training from 1998 through to today. He now has two part- time physical trainers, and even when he is on the road he maintains a rigorous
program of off- hill training, diet and stretching. A few of the coaches Jasey has trained with over the last few years were themselves very much into physical fitness, and I think this
helped set the trend for Jaseys current attitude towards personal physical maintenance and improvement. A strong athlete makes for a confident athlete.
I am often asked if Jasey is a natural athlete. Jasey has a good physical stature for his particular sport but he is a bit light. He compensates for the missing weight with his finesse
and willpower. Jasey has worked very hard to get and stay where he is today. He has learned to set reasonable achievable goals for himself, both long -term and short- term. Once he sets
those goals, he has the patience and fortitude to accomplish them. He has a good support mechanism around him but he himself has the character that is necessary to achieve and he isnt
afraid of the continued hard work required to keep moving forward.
